From the Google Developer Blog:
Dave Humby, CTO of Nomanini – a startup based in South Africa which provides a platform to sell prepaid products such as airtime, electricity and insurance electronically is giving local South African youths an opportunity to enter into business with their devices.
Nomanini uses Google App Engine to support the back-end system for their network of point of sale terminals across South Africa.
Terminals in the field connect to an App Engine application through the GSM mobile network. The terminals synchronize when a connection becomes available, allowing sales to be processed even when devices are offline.
