Unboxing & Review of Alcatel OneTouch IDOL 3

Reviewing and Unboxing of the Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 – a budget Android phone with a unique features.

In this post, I shall be taking a closer look at one of the best budget-friendly smartphones out on the Ghanaian market today - Alcatel OneTouch IDOL 3.

The OneTouch IDOL 3 running on the Android operating system comes in two different sizes: 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch models was launched on to the Ghanaian market by the Alcatel OneTouch Ghana team at a plush hands-on demo event at the La Villa Monticello Hotel in Accra.

The device which comes packed with a powerful 3-in-1 experience, with great sound, Full HD display and industry-leading camera is available for pre-order via Vodafone and other selected distributed across the country.

Enjoying music with IDOL 3 is a whole new experience, featuring unmatched sound quality and clarity with dual front-facing speakers from JBL audio, including Clari-Fi technology by Harman.

First Impression and Packaging

The Alcatel OneTouch IDOL 3 comes beautifully packed in a hard paper stylish deep blue box.

Included in the box alongside the phone are a pair JBL headphones, replacement earbuds, a power adapter and micro USB cable, and a SIM ejector tool. The Idol 3 is tucked into a small, simple box with just the branding and feature callouts on the front (specs on the back, of course).

Hardware and Design

The Idol 3 is very light in weight and has a very simple, minimalist design made of plastic and comes in two different variants, a 4.7-inch model and a 5.5-inch model.

The volume button is located on the right-hand side whiles the power button is located directly on top of the left side on top of the sim and memory card slot. The charging port is located at the lower right or upper left side depending on how you holding the phone.

Battery Life

The IDOL 3 comes with a 2,910 mAh battery pack which guarantees more than enough juice for a typical busy day of use. Haven’t played full HD Modern Combat 5 game and watched series of videos, I can attest to the fact the battery life is pretty descent. Only thing missing: no functionality for quick Charging.

Special Feature – Reversibility

The most important feature on this OneTouch Idol 3 is reversibility.

You can flip the handset upside down and the whole display automatically adjusts so you can continue to use the phone—even to answer a call, thanks to a microphone and a speaker featured both above and below the display.

Special key features:

  • 5.5-inch 1080×1920 display (443ppi)
  • 64 bit Octa-core Snapdragon 615 chip – 1.5GHz quad + 1GHz quad
  • 13MP rear camera
  • 8MP front camera
  • Android 5.0 Lollipop
  • Dual front-facing speakers with JBL audio
  • 16GB storage – expandable to 128GB
  • 2GB RAM
  • 2,910mAh battery
  • Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n

I’m very pleased and impressed with this Alcatel OneTouch IDOL 3 phone with decent specs to back up the cool features that comes with it.

If you are a music lover and avid gamer, you should go for this kind of smartphone.

You can pre-order both the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch model from Alcatel OneTouch Ghana or selected stores nationwide and enjoy a FREE 9GB Data for 6months Plus a Smart Watch and a Flip Case.
