Ghanaian arts writer and curator, Sharon Obuobi just launched a podcast: In Studio With Sharon Obuobi to stimulate open-minded conversations on African arts.
Sharon Obuobi is a Ghanaian art writer and curator of modern & contemporary African art.
She just launched a podcast series, titled In Studio With Sharon Obuobi, which will be a weekly conversation with artists, curators, and influencers in the African art scene.
The series was created to stimulate open-minded conversations and challenge listeners to see the world from the artist’s perspective.
According to Sharon, the studio is a broad term which refers to the artist’s working space, and the mental space they’re in while creating. Sharon recently launched the first episode of In Studio With, which featured multidisciplinary artist Lina Iris Viktor.
The rest of the series will feature conversations with other artists and art influencers such as Ibrahim Mahama, Hans Ulrich Obrist, Elisabeth Sutherland, Zak Ove, Sokari Douglas Camp, Atta Kwami, Joel Andrianomearisoa, Adebayo Bolaji, and Victor Ehikhamenor.
In the first episode, artist Lina Iris Viktor discusses how she doesn’t like to be labeled as an artist, and how her experiences influence her art.
