Twitter will launch an Edit feature for Twitter Blue users in the coming months, according to the company’s announcement on Tuesday.
The “Edit feature” has been in development since last year, according to the company, and will be tested as a “Labs” feature for Twitter Blue subscribers.
With an edit button, one could correct an error without having to delete and re-tweet, which would mess up all the replies and retweets gathered from the original tweet. Twitter users have been requesting an edit feature for years, allowing them to correct mistakes.
“Edit has been the most requested Twitter feature for many years. People want to be able to fix (sometimes embarrassing) mistakes, typos and hot takes in the moment. They currently work around this by deleting and tweeting again,” tweeted Jay Sullivan, Head of Consumer Product at Twitter on Tuesday, April 5, 2022.
He added, “This is just one feature we are exploring as we work to give people more choice and control over their Twitter experience, foster a healthy conversation, and help people be more comfortable on Twitter. These are the things that motivate us every day.”

On April 4, Kenyan tech entrepreneur Sam Gichiru predicted that Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who recently purchased a 9.2 percent stake in Twitter valued at $2.89 billion, would run a poll asking his followers if the platform should add an “Edit feature“, which he eventually did and received an overwhelmingly positive response from his followers.
