August 30, 2012
Ghana Decides teams up with the Accra[dot]Alt TALK PARTY Series for the FREE screening and Questions & Answer session with the filmmaker, Jarreth Merz of An African Election on Friday, August 31st 2012 from 7pm – 10pm @ Exhibition Hall – Alliance Francaise
An African Election is a remarkable documentary that grants viewers unprecedented access to the anatomy of Ghana’s 2008 presidential elections. Capturing the intrigue of electioneering, the intensity of the vote-counting process, and the mood of the countrymen whose fate lies precariously in the balance, director Jarreth Merz’s coverage unfolds with all the tension of a political thriller, revealing the emotions, passions, and ethical decisions that both threaten—and maintain—the integrity of the democratic process.
An African Election illuminates a beacon of hope for Africa and offers an inspiring example of the vitality of democracy today.
August kicks off Merz’s “A Political Safari,” a mobile cinema tour of the film across Ghana and the continent into communities where people might not have access to electricity or transportation.
Kwabena Oppong Boateng, Communications & Social Media Strategist for Ghana Decides, will also be part of the Questions and Answer session, sharing the activities of the Ghana Decides project, this far.
Come and watch the film. Let’s discuss how young people can strategize – particularly through new media – to provide greater access to human rights for all Ghanaians.
