Ten young Ghanaian youths, comprising eight men and two women, are currently embarking on what may become one of the most transformative chapters of their lives.
Far from home, they’ve landed in Germany, scattered across cities like Bochum, Detmold, Lemgo, and Münster. For three months, they’ll be part of an internship program that not only sharpens their professional skills but also introduces them to a new culture, a different way of life, and invaluable global perspectives.
This unique opportunity didn’t happen by chance. It’s the result of a collaborative effort between several organizations committed to empowering young talent and fostering international cooperation. The program is supported by Signal Iduna, Senior Expert Service (SES), the Jakob-Christian-Adam Stiftung, the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Ghana (AHK Ghana), and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. Together, these institutions are investing in the future of youth—and by extension, the future of Ghana and Germany.
Building Skills Beyond Borders
For the ten Ghanaian interns, this is more than a professional training program—it’s a door to the world.
Selected through a competitive process, the participants come from various educational and technical backgrounds. Many are studying or have completed training in fields like engineering, ICT, logistics, and business administration. The internship placements reflect their diverse interests, matching them with German companies that align with their career goals.
Whether working in factories, office environments, or tech-focused settings, the interns are learning through hands-on experience. This real-world exposure is giving them the chance to apply what they’ve studied, observe best practices, and gain insight into how industries operate in a different country.

The Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Ghana (AHK Ghana) has been instrumental on the ground, identifying promising candidates, preparing them for the journey, and coordinating the match between interns and host companies. The German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy complements the partnership with governmental backing, which helps ensure the long-term sustainability of such initiatives.
